African American Gift Guides is the next chapter of a journey that started with ItsABlackThang.com, a website founded by Air Force veteran Kane Kinnebrew III while serving on active duty in the United States Air Force.

What began as a single idea—a crossword puzzle and activity book celebrating African American history and culture—quickly grew into one of the Internet's most recognized destinations for culturally inspired gifts. As more products were added and the community grew, ItsABlackThang.com became a trusted resource for customers seeking products that reflected their heritage, pride, and identity. Eventually, the business grew to the point where it became possible to leave military service and devote full-time attention to building the company. For more than twenty years, one thing has remained constant: Celebrating Black culture through meaningful products.

Why We Rebranded

As our collections expanded beyond gifts into fine art, home décor, personalized products, fashion accessories, greeting cards, educational products, and lifestyle collections, we realized our original name no longer reflected the full scope of our vision.

AfricanAmericanGiftGuides.com better represents who we are today and where we're headed tomorrow. Although the name has changed, our mission remains the same: creating products that celebrate culture, preserve history, inspire conversation, and bring people together.

Innovation has always been part of our journey. With a background in computer programming, marketing, and graphic design, founder Kane Kinnebrew III has continually embraced new technologies to improve the business and expand creative possibilities.

Today, artificial intelligence has become an important part of that process. AI assists us with concept development, graphic design, product descriptions, marketing research, and creative exploration.
